SUMMARY:“Masks of the Titans” Art Exhibition Opening Night
DESCRIPTION:Mask up and experience SSKB’s first in-person event since the shut-down. In the time of Covid, what’s a more fitting art exhibition than Masks of the Titans? Come to our taproom and immerse yourself in the 3D world of John “Twyg” Hyde!\nSing Sing Kill Brewery is thrilled to announce their latest taproom exhibition featuring local artist John “Twyg” Hyde. The show entitled Masks of the Titans presents several handcrafted costumes as well as a series of 3D printed works. Set to underline the tone of spooky season, Masks of the Titans will open on October 2nd and close on November 8th, with a special event taking place on Friday, October 30th.\nDesigned with Covid in mind, opening night on Friday, October 2nd will look a bit different than shows of the past. The taproom will be closed to the general public from 6:30-8pm and during this time, art goers will check out the exhibit and have the chance to chat up the artist one-on-one. Maximum occupancy in the taproom is currently reduced, and masked walk-throughs will be socially distanced. Instead of finger food horderves, there will be a limited number of individual goodie bags to take on a first come basis which will include candies and a special edition 3D print made by John himself. Come early to snag yours while supplies last.\nFriday, October 30th, marks the “Mask-querade” of the exhibition. In the spirit of “Masks of the Titans” and Halloween and Covid, prizes will be awarded for the best masks. Showcase your best!\nAt every point during the exhibition safety is the #1 priority. There will only be a limited number of people permitted inside the taproom at one time, and everyone is required to follow mask and physical distancing guidelines throughout.\n— Artist Bio —\nInspired by the fusion of art and technology, John Hyde makes sculpture and costumed characters that explore the union of creepy looks with a friendly soul. His work asks us to consider if what we habitually see as unsettling can also be kind. In the late 1990’s John began his explorations with early versions of 3D digital art, then in 2016 he rekindled his endeavors by creating 3D printed fine art and costuming.\nIt is never too late to begin a new discipline, and driven by that ethic John has been learning with his hands how to blend his technological skills with traditional artistic modalities. John fashions forms and faces that provoke us to pause, and ponder each character’s counterpoint. John Hyde resides just outside of NYC with his wife and two cats; when not making art he can be found working in IT.\n
